World's Collide

bloggy
Merl came to town this weekend! We were very bad bloggers and these were the only pictures I was able to get. This was Sunday when I stopped by her hotel on my way out of the city. So many twist and turns happened that day. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that Merl will elaborate on the story because I know she will do this day justice. The short story is I went to Brooklyn, got a flat, hung over Merl came to help, we couldn't fix it, some men came to help, they couldn't fix it, we waited hours for a tow truck, we emptied my car which was full to the brim of luggage including Lua, and waited for my dad to pick me up because my mom was in the ER getting shots because she'd gotten bitten by a bat the night before. Oh yeah and I still don't have a car.

Merl's outfit details are not mine to tell, but I will say she looked ravishing and is the reason we got any help with the tire in the first place.
ie. Low cut top and hole in skirt.

I also got the chance to meet Nickie of Wild as a Mink, but Sweet as Sodapop and Marissa of Dusty Rose Vintage this weekend (Nickie has some more pictures in her Flickr). It was the first time I met bloggers in real life. I have to say it was pretty amazing. I'm excited to continue the trend of meeting new people. I need to bring some more genuine people into my life. This will be good for me.

Find Merl:
I heart her.
I'm sorry for my absence here. I promise there's a reason, I'm just trying to find the best way to talk about it. I'm still on twitter, and trying to get back to my normal blog read and comment routine. I hope you can understand. Sometimes life just creeps up on you and you need a minute to breath.

guest blogging is the new black.

Oh hai! I'm not sure if Morgan knew what exactly she was getting herself into when she begged, then pleaded, then offered up her first born if I would pretty please guest blog for her. I mean.. she would've gotten me on the first go had she offered up a carrot cake cupcake. I guess, for those not in the Merl know, I should introduce myself before I bombard you with the greatest 'Ode to Morgan & Lua' photoshoot ever. My name is Merl, and I vent [a lot] and sometimes post outfit photos over yonder at clyde's rebirth. I also create one of a kind jewelry using all deadstock vintage and pre-loved material. You can shop the collection right here. I won't even be mad if you don't finish reading this post to go buy stuff. My cats have to eat and I need new shoes. Speaking of feline friends.. I have two. Clyde is my main man, and Molo is his girlfriend. Seeing as he is the main inspiration behind the brand name [mo get's a shout out with the paw logo, plus something even bigger coming soon....] but doesn't get much actual photographic air time, I figured this was the best way to kill two birds with one big stone. I mean.. Morgan made Lua share the blog title with her, but she gives that canine way more fan exposure than I do my furry companion. My reasoning was this: I don't have Morgan's ridiculously shiny locks, nor do I have her enviable lithe figure. I DO, however, have a pet. It took him some petrified spastic glances over both shoulders every other second, and a few alligator rolls to try and get out of the harness, and he didn't really frolic through the grass like I hoped he would.. but I think this collection of photos aptly describes us both, while giving a tip of the hat to Ms. Morgan's gorgeous water shots, dotted with a happy Lua running amuck.

[*note: only Clyde's pride was harmed during the making of these photos. Special shout out to the M for some more fabulous photos]

I also tried to echo ms thang's simple but chic wardrobe.. a body con dress from h&m kept day appropriate and skank free by a flouncy metallic gold thrifted skirt, hiked up by my favorite vintage belt, and topped off with a necklace from my shop, and some wedges on permanant loan from a friend. I didn't mean to keep the sunnies on the whole time, because I had actually taken the time to put on eye shadow, but it was muggy and Clyde was quite anxious.. which in turn meant he shed. A lot. The odd and lingering looks from bikers, joggers, and the casual passerby also contributed to a speedy shoot. Last thing I need these days is PETA knocking down my door.

Thank you Morgan darling, for asking me to guest post while you are vacationing with the ginger. I had a blast doing the photos, and you can expect me to return the favor of you taking the reins when my vacay comes up. And thank you to the new kids for humoring me by wasting 10-15 minutes [depending on your reading speed] on this post. I'm always in the market for fresh meat to stalk, so please stop by and say yellow :)
