Vacation was great. Its been more than a week since I've been back. It seems like it was so long ago now. If you've been hanging out here for a while, it's fairly obvious I tend to over think, over analyze, and obsess about certain things in my life. Being away for those two weeks gave me a great opportunity to slow my mind down.
Before I went, I thought that while I was out there I was going to sit down and try to figure out a lot about my life. What ended up happening was much different than that. I almost entirely shut off. I coasted. Everything was alright, and each day just floated by. Wake up, make breakfast, relax outside with the pup, walks and naps at the beach, afternoon drives, easy dinners, and winding down at home. With the exception of the weekends when friends came to visit, that's pretty much how my entire time away went.
Apparently that was what I needed more than anything else. When I'm in the city I can feel my mind racing. What's next, what am I doing, why am I doing this, and on and on. But going away gave me the opportunity to be my best self. To go back to being the girl I truly enjoy being. Taking things as they come, not over thinking, being happy where I am, and enjoying my life in the small moments.

I felt relaxed, at ease, and like there was nowhere else I possibly wanted to be. I grew up with lazy summer days spent at the beach. It's such a huge part of who I am, and has remained a way to remind myself of the girl I always want to be. If you put me at the beach I'll feel more at home than anywhere else and you'll get to see the most genuine me that I've experienced yet. No makeup, no outfits, no fuss, a lot of smiles, time spent with people I care about, and easy living. I absolutely love being there.

Thanks for being so understanding of my more laid back summer schedule. I contributed a Guest Post for the lovely Jessie of The Concrete Catwalk last week while she was away enjoying her own beach vacation. I hope you all are making the most of your summer. It's going far too fast for me!

You look so gorgeous here, Morgan! So carefree & happy! I love this post, and I love that you had such a lovely, easy vacation!
You look very beautiful and summer simple. I am glad to hear that you had some down time and were able to relax and float along. Sometimes we just need a brak from it all.
Cheers,
Bre
Hi Morgan! Glad your vacation went so well. I'm on an extended vacation right now, and thought I'd take the time to figure life out, but it's ending up just how you described yours. Breakfast, napping in the sun and just relaxing and taking it slow. It's so nice not to worry about anything and take a little break for myself. To just enjoy life and be happy.
those blue skies are gorgeous!
makes me want to head out to the beach!

Beautiful photos. Why do you live in the city if this setting feels more like yourself?
Great pics, love the simple dress...
A Girl's Next Best Friend
My vacation starts tomorrow and I can't wait! Whenever summer rolls around I always wish I was 13 again. Old enough to ride my bike around town and hang with my friends and young enough not to have to work. Those were the days...
i love summer. even though nothing in my life is any different for these few months in the middle of the year, there's something still so very special about summer. i think that's stayed the same though my life even more than christmas, i still get so excited for SUMMER. i'm a southern girl so i feel most comfortable when it's warm. i feel more like myself and more at ease. you can't be too fussy in summer. and i love that. you look so happy and relaxed in these photos. glad you had a great vacation. hope the rest of your summer still holds some magical moments in it :)
Are you sure that you didn't borrow the text for this post from my brain? It's very much the same sort of thing I feel about the vacation that just ended yesterday. Being home (my parents live in SC, I live in Chicago) was the perfect balm a stressed out city life. I did a lot of wandering, napping, and not thinking, and have come back to Chicago with a renewed sense of who I am and how important it is sometimes to just not think.
You're perfectly gorgeous in these photos. I love the warm sense of calm that radiates from them
you look so happy & relaxed! this sounds like the ideal vacation to me.
I'm glad you had a good trip :) Sometimes your brain just needs a vacation too.
meow...nice tan.
so glad you had a relaxing, reflective, stress-free vacation at the beach.
my last day of work is the 12th... and i plan to do some "vacation-ing" of my own...before baby gets here. :) beach days, a drive up the coast...can't wait!
It is always good to take time away, especially when you make a plan to think and break it. Good for you for just coasting and enjoying your time off.
this dress is perfect!i love:)
