The Cliffs in Winter

cliffs
Winter is here. We've gotten so much snow this season. I can't remember having a winter like this in such a long time. I'm used to having just one big snow and then maybe a few flurries to tide the season over.

I don't dislike winter. In fact, I really like the idea of a long hibernation. Settling in at home with tea, a few good books, warm fire burning, and some baked goods getting toasty in the oven. That sounds perfectly lovely to me. I'd also like to put snowshoeing on that list.

Unfortunately, I can't stop working and move to a cabin in the woods for a few months...yet. I always loved when my family and I would go further north in the winter. It seemed like such a quiet winter lifestyle. All the houses nestled in white hills of snow with tufts of smoke coming from their chimneys. That was something I could imagine having.

This walk out to the cliffs I took Kim and Brian on I have only ever done in the winter. I've only seen these views when everything is undisturbed and sparse. I think that's what I enjoy most about winter. It's how hushed everything seems. People are curled up inside, and places are more likely left alone.

Maybe it's a good thing I've never been out to these cliffs in the summer. It might ruin them for me.

I went to my parents this past weekend for some R & R. I've been feeling particularly run down so it was good to get away from the city and not have a weekend agenda. I have many more pictures of Lua and I from my weekend with Kim still to come!

The first photo of you & Lua (2nd photo in the post) is KILLING me. SO cute! Gah! And I don't know if I've ever confessed this to you before, but I'm not a dog lover in the least - I'm afraid of dogs, in fact. But Lua seems so sweet, and that photo alone makes me understand why people like dogs. ;) Adorable.

I love your hat, and those views are beautiful. I tried snow shoeing a couple weekends ago and loved it. Definitely a fun winter activity.

I wish I had a better attitude about winter, like you. I'm just such a summer person - I miss being warm! Oh well, so it is.

I'm happy you got some well-deserved relaxation with good company. I think I've mentioned it to you before, but the ocean really soothes me. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to relax...of course, I'm relaxing on a beach without snow!

I don't ever recall looking so cute while trudging through snow. Lovely layers!

Oh my goodness... every post makes me want to snatch Lua away! (I won't though... tho im tempted. But my little pooch is a jealous spoiled brat - I don't spoil him but the boyfriend's mom does
I really love these photos

i love these photos--you look so rugged. there is something that looks so arctic about the ocean in the snow.

i also love the idea of a long hibernation in an isolated cabin with a woodstove and shelves and shelves of books. unfortunately, that is not in the cards for now, so i still hate winter :)

These photos are breathtaking, Morgan. And I love seeing the spaces that you hold so dear. You look so calm and centered in these pictures. And I totally identify with you. I would love nothing more than to quit my job in the winter and hole up in a cabin, waiting out the cold and snuggling under blankets.

Oh boy... more pretty pictures. You are a great winter layerer... you look chic and warm, which is a battle.
Have you ever been snowshoeing? I have had a sudden urge to go, maybe with my family this weekend?

I have a hat like that. So, I should have been included in these photos. And then you're talking about cabin-living and winter-cuddling, and I knew, surely, you were not talking about this without me in mind. :)

You are so gorgeous! I have been wanting to try the socks over jeans with boots look for so long but have been too scared, you have given me new inspiration. It looks so good and effortless on you! And I want to be where you live. It is beautiful!! Hope you have a great (and relaxing!) rest of your week.
