Central Park Renegade Blogger Meet Up
renegade meet up
I'm really glad Rebecca from The Clothes Horse was able to organized the Renegade Blogger Meet Up in Central Park. It was more laid back and dare I say easier to socialize than the conference the day before. My first date butterflies had all but left by the time we arrived at the red balloons on Sheep Meadow and I was even able to bring special reinforcement. Lua. If there was rudeness again I know she'd tackle them to the ground or be just enough intimidation to keep it away.

I even have pictures to prove that I met some lady bloggers in the park. I think one of the weirdest/simultaneously coolest thing of meeting everyone in real life is seeing that they're real sizes. Maybe that's one of the most encouraging things about this style blogging community. The fact that everyone is mismatched sizes, not a mold, not clones, but differing figures. And we're all wearing the clothes that feel right to us, not something we've been bullied into wearing. At least that's the thought. Or perhaps we're all conforming to some sort of blogging style trend...who knows.

These ladies were pretty lovely indeed. As nerve wracking as it was to meet everyone, I'm really glad I had the chance to meet so many of these girls. It was part of the reason I starting writing and posting pictures online to begin with, to meet new people, to expand my social experience, and to acquire some girl crushes. Alright maybe not the last part, but it has happened none the less. I mean look at them! Who can resist.

On a personal style note, these are my old riding boots. I found them in the back of the closet and turns out they are perfect for more than just riding. They were my moms. She gave them to me when I grew out of my other pair (I rode horses competitively until I was eighteen). It also happens that I'm very excited it's cool enough to wear boots outside again.

I was planning on getting this post up yesterday but I went out for one last meet up before a few girls headed out of town. I came back to my apartment and completely passed out on the couch. I didn't get any pictures at dinner, but Elizabeth got a great shot of the BBQ meat.

if i found boots like those in the back of my closet i'd be pretty chuffed!

it's interesting that you mentioned that you liked seeing that the bloggers you met are real sizes. i think that is just reinforced seeing the photos of you gals like, together, because it adds comparison points (not in a bad way or anything!) but you really do get a feel for what people REALLY look like and that is great!!

I'm finding it really amusing to see the HEIGHTS of all you bloggers when you're in photos together - who is taller than who, etc! Because when someone is in a photo alone, it's hard to tell their height, but I pictured you as tall - and then I saw you in a picture with Tieka, who I know is short, and you're the same height! Same goes for Kim of Eat Sleep Wear... thought she was tall, but you guys are all around the same height! Haha, anyway, it was just a funny realization! The photos turned you great, love your outfit! (& Lua looks pretty good, too!)

loved this post! the park looks amazing and it's cool to see so many bloggers that i 'know.' when i met mel a couple months ago, i remember being so nervous! i mean, it's one thing to think you might have a good connection and quite another to actually try it out in person. i hope i can one day hang out with all of you. maybe in february!

You and Lua are just too cute for words! I love these photos! I really like your utilitarian look, which is the perfect segue to fall.

Lua's starting to pull her weight around here. She's looking sassy in these shots! Make sure she doesn't leave you behind when she becomes realllly famous in the blog world. kidding! Also, the reality is starting to set in that this weekend I don't get to gallivant around New York and have all sorts of blog fun. Boo!

Ah! I didn't know you rode competitively! Of course you probably told me before, but things fall out of my brain so easily, and now I have a real live person to associate that memory with. That's awesome. What did you compete in? Hunter/Jumpers?
