Golden Summers

beach
This summer has certainly been an unexpected one for me. It has been extremely trying at times but from those struggles came the moments that were unbelievably rewarding. These photos are from a day I spent at the beach a few weeks ago. It was a day that was so awful it ended up being really rejuvenating for me. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced that. I needed to be the girl that cried in public that day. In a lot of ways it was healing to feel that bad and be completely alone in it. It gave me time to reflect and get some things straightened out in my head.

This is my favorite beach. It always so quiet and perfect there. While the summer crowds were fighting to find a place to sit on the ocean side, I was sharing this beach with only three other sets of people. It was peaceful and gave me all the time I needed to think. This is what I wore that day. I had on some version of this on every trip to the beach this summer. A cover up, sunglasses, and a scarf to keep my bangs back. A bathing suit too.

More people started to show up as the sun began to go down, which explains the bottom half of a little girl in the above picture. Families, couples, and groups of friends came down to the beach for the short part of the day when the sun slips beneath the horizon. They were enjoying a summer night together. I sat at the beach companionless and let myself be ok with that. I waited until the very last of the sun had gone. Watching something as beautiful as that helped me come back to myself that day.

My life changed imeasurably this summer (My Tiny Heart). In the past few months so many things have happened that I never expected. Despite all that, I'm beginning to be grateful for where my life is right now. There are amazing opportunities at every corner, and some wonderful people who have come into my life at just the right time. Now that summer is over, I'm even more excited to see what's next.

I'd like to know what was your favorite summer memory was and what are you looking forward to the most in fall? My favorite summer memory is this day at the beach...and I'm really looking forward to continuing to grow as a person, finding out more about myself, and taking some amazing trips this fall.
And scarves. I'm excited for scarves.

Ahh this really makes me miss the summer. I think my favorite memory was leisurely days spent at the beach. I may spend a month in France this fall so I'm excited for that :D

My favorite summer memory definitely has to be the weekend I spent in San Antonio with my boyfriend. We are medical students (and I'm also a fashion blogger, of course!) so vacation time is extremely hard to come by, so getting some time together with no outside distractions was truly a blessing.

I'm looking forward to Fall fashion! It's my favorite season, weather-wise, and fashion-wise (loads of layering!)!

Beautiful photos...definitely the perfect beach outfit!
I cannot wait for the crisp fall air and to wear boots and tights with dresses...

lovely photos! I'm glad you had some time to reflect. It's so hard to get that quiet time sometimes... everything just seems so busy.

My favorite summer memory: an unplanned trip to Atlanta to see a Braves game. It was fun to be spontaneous for once...even if it was just baseball.

Fabulous pictures! I can't pick just one but my favorite summer experience was going on a road trip to Europe with some of my very best friends.

Oh Morgan, this is heartbreakingly beautiful. The sentiment, the photos, the perspective. Wow.

However, on a lighter note- I am an individual who really never, ever has plans. I'm a homebody for the most part, which means that I am pretty much completely free the entire week of Halloween.

I would love to meet with you and Sarah, and I'm not sure how long you're here, but we should try to nail it down soon! The only somewhat minor issue about a potential Halloween meet-up is that it is also Ryan (my bfs) birthday (creepy, right?).

HOWEVER (again), we have yet to nail down any Halloween plans whatsoever, so I think I'll actually speak with him this evening and see how he feels about having us host this year. If he agrees, then you will most certainly be invited (if you wish, of course- I don't know if you and she have other plans).

So, yeah, let me know you and Sarah's scoop (I'm on my way over to her blog now) and we will make it happen.
