I'm turning 25 soon. This is big.
I'm currently On The Hunt for a dress to wear the weekend following my birthday. We will be out east on Long Island and are going wine tasting! I'm really excited because this is something I've wanted to do for a long time, but have never got it together. I have to plan when it comes to things like this. I'm still pretty new at this whole style thing and if I don't have it all laid out, I get flustered and end up with "nothing to wear", which inevitably ruins my mood and my day. That is not something I want to happen on a day that's supposed to be so much fun! So, I'm learning from my mistakes and trying to get it all together in advance.
The realistic components:
There will be day drinking. This dress will have to be comfortable, possibly with an elastic waistband. I'm also a big fan of pockets. It's a convenience factor. The dress needs to be here, ready to wear, in a week.
The style components:
I'd like have something classy for a day in the vineyards. It can't be too dressy and it can't be too casual. I mean come on, I'm turning 25, I should at least look like a lady. Any and all spring colors are prints are welcome. April birthday means spring.
The contenders:
I.
Necklace & Heels from Anthropologie
II.
III.
Dee-liteful Dress from Modcloth
Wedges from Anthropologie
and I'm feeling some sort of big hair accessory here...
My Thoughts:
I. Blue Angels Dress:
I've been looking to extend my navy blue collection. It's such a classic color. I think the shape of this dress could be very flattering. I'm not sure about the neckline though. Sometimes things this structured don't fit me well. I'm also into the combination of greens with the navy of the dress. I just like it. The green of the Celadon Heels comes off as a neutral to me and at the same time there's something so spring-y about a green. Very garden-esque I suppose.
II. Laces High Dress:
This dress has more of an athletic cut. This usually works better for me. The lace detail on the top adds some sweetness. I think I would bring a cardigan, incase I felt the open back was inappropriate for the vineyards. This is definitely something I could wear multiple times and well into summer.
III. Dee-lightful Dress:
This is cute, adorable, sweet, appropriate, and full of spring character. The problem is that it's already sold out, and it's strapless. A combination of my bad posture and small chest make strapless dresses nearly impossible to keep up on me. Someone else should wear this to their spring vineyard birthday party. Any takers?

Side notes:
My friend used to work for Anthropologie so I was able to get a great discount. She doesn't work there anymore and I'm pretty crushed about it. This just explains how I have so many things from Anthropologie. The morning before the wine tour I will be running 8 miles. I don't know what this mean, but I know it means something.
I'm honestly not totally sold on any of these dresses for this occasion. I like them all for different reasons, and for different things, but I'm not finding what I want for my birthday vineyard celebration. Maybe I'm just putting too much pressure on it. Anyone else feel this way, like you put too much pressure on finding the perfect thing to wear to an event?

Your birthday plans sound incredible!! I love all options, but the first may be my favorite! I love how versatile yet edgy the dress is. It looks comfortable, yet dressy. I feel like you won't have to worry about things shifting around like you may in a strapless. Let us know the verdict!
Let me see what I can come up with! Although, I'm leaving on Wednesday, I might have to get back to you after the weekend. IS that too late? I'd love to help you though!
Lovely blog !
Aw, I love the Dee-lightful dress from Modcloth. Too bad it's already sold out. But all of these dresses are darling! The laces high dress's back is so classy!
